Rev. John Lee's travel to Punta Cana

Hi everyone! I am John, the minister of DPUC. I visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for 8 days during the summer of 2002. It is a resort with one of the longest white sand beaches in the world. I had a wonderful time relaxing and swimming. With all the hype about the damaging effects of the sun on skin, I had to fight against the UV rays. During my whole staying, every thing was included - food and drinks - in what they call, "All Inclusive." The spirit of inclusiveness was reflected not only in food, but also in their programs for entertainment and many other events.

People are joyous and friendly. Since it is a resort, it was difficult to really get to know other people. But I met and chatted with several people, and experienced their peaceful and joyful spirit.  I talked with Johanna with the photos I took. It was a pleasant time that I felt passion and joy. I hope Johanna will post some of her stories on this page.

The sunrise was a grand magnificent scenery. We have the same sun but experience differently in different areas. From this early morning sun, I felt the fresh all new energy of nature. After the whole day's energy-full sunny days, the evening entertainment was also a special experience that the passion of Dominicans was transmitted. The musical team was so passionate and talented by breathing and feeling together with the people surrounded.

Every night there were various events, from traditional to modern, for youths and families. All of them were filled with tropical energy and joyful spirit. As the people repeatedly say, it was all inclusive in many ways. All events are interactive and made people feel oneness as they watched or invited to participate in, planned or unplanned. In this sort of inclusiveness, I felt real peace and joy. Perhaps my experience may be too superficial or too much away from the real life situation. With the real life story, we can start actualizing genuine peace. My experience at the Dominican Republic taught me to think about "peace on earth" once again.
